Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
At Bills Reminder, we believe your financial data is exactly that: yours. Our philosophy is built on absolute transparency and respect for your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles your data. The short version? We do not collect, process, store, or sell your personal information.
Here is exactly how our technology works to protect you.
1. The Data We DO NOT Collect
To give you peace of mind, we want to be explicitly clear about what we don't do:
- No Audio Recording: Although our app features a voice dictation tool, we do not receive, record, or store your voice audio. The dictation is processed entirely on your device using Google's built-in speech recognition services. Your voice never touches our servers.
- No Centralized Servers: We do not own or maintain any private databases containing your reminders, bills, or payment histories.
- No Data Selling: Since we do not have your data, we cannot (and will never) sell or share it with third-party advertisers, brokers, or external agencies.
2. How Your Data is Handled
We use robust, industry-standard technologies to ensure the app works seamlessly while keeping your data under your control.
Google Drive Sync (Your Cloud, Not Ours)
To keep your reminders synced and backed up, we use Google Drive.
- When you enable cloud sync, your data is securely stored directly in a hidden, application-specific folder within your own personal Google Drive account.
- We do not have access to your Google account credentials, nor can we view or read your backed-up files. Your data remains solely between your device and Google's secure servers.
Firebase Realtime Database (Trial & License Management)
To allow you to try the app's premium features without forcing you to create an account, register your email, or log in, we manage trial periods using Google's Firebase Realtime Database.
- When you first open the app, a cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your device's anonymous Android ID is generated and saved alongside your trial start timestamp.
- This hash cannot be reversed to discover your actual device hardware info or identity. It is solely used to verify trial duration and prevent abuse without collecting personal data.
Firebase Crashlytics (Anonymous Bug Tracking)
To ensure the app remains stable and crash-free, we use Google's Firebase Crashlytics.
- If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends us an anonymous report containing technical information (such as your device model, Android version, and the specific line of code that failed).
- This data is strictly used to fix bugs and improve the app's performance. It contains absolutely zero personal or financial information.
Firebase App Check & Play Integrity (App Security)
We use Google Play Integrity and Firebase App Check to verify that requests to our database originate from genuine, untampered instances of our application running on real devices. These integrity signals are processed directly by Google and do not track your personal activity.
Google Play Billing (Secure Payments)
If you purchase a premium feature or subscription, the transaction is handled 100% securely by Google Play. We never see, process, or store your credit card or payment details.
3. App Permissions Explained
Our app requests specific permissions solely to provide you with the best experience. Here is exactly why we need them:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Used strictly for the voice-to-text dictation feature. As stated above, this is processed entirely on your device by Google. We never hear or save your audio.
- Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC): Used to let you lock the app with your fingerprint or face scan. This authentication happens securely and locally on your device's hardware.
- Notifications & Alarms (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used to reliably notify and remind you when your bills are due.
- Internet (INTERNET): Used to sync your backups to your personal Google Drive and to send anonymous crash reports if the app fails.
- Vibration & Boot (VIBRATE, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Used to provide haptic feedback when interacting with buttons and to reschedule your reminder alarms automatically after your device reboots.
4. Data Deletion
Because we do not store your information on our servers, you have total control over your data deletion:
- Local Data: Deleting Bills reminder from your device immediately removes all local database records. Note that automatic local backup files saved to your device's
Download/BillsReminder_Backupsfolder persist after app uninstallation and can be manually deleted using any file manager if desired. - Cloud Data: You can delete your backup at any time by navigating to your Google Drive settings, managing connected apps, and removing the Bills Reminder app data.
- Trial & Technical Data: The trial device hash stored in Firebase is technical metadata associated only with an anonymous device identifier. Uninstalling the app wipes all local data immediately, and cloud backups in Google Drive can be deleted at any time through your Google Account settings.
5. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time if we introduce new features that require explanation. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy or via an in-app notice.
